Frequently Asked Questions
What is it?
From the outside the Dig A Screener V Series looks like a riddle bucket yet inside it operates like a high-powered, fast-moving vibrating screen. It is a strong, robust, versatile screening bucket that can separate lots of different types of materials.
What does it do?
It separates fines from concrete and demolition material thereby creating clean oversize material that is suitable for crushing to aggregate. The fines that have fallen through can be used for landscaping. The gap between the bars is set at 45mm allowing smaller size material to fall through whilst larger size pieces are retained on top.
How does it work?
The Dig A Screener has two individual framed bar gratings that are connected to an eccentric cam shaft which is powered by the hammer circuit of the excavator via a hydraulic motor. The reciprocating action produced easily separates the fines from oversize material. It is on a single acting circuit and does not require any extra hoses. Material is scooped up as in a normal bucket mode. Then simply press the hammer pedal to make the eccentric cam shaft move. When the bucket is moved to a horizontal position fines material fall out the bottom screened!
What are the running costs?
Wear parts are minimal. The main wear parts are made out of Hardox 400 and require minimal attention. Reliability is very good as there are not many moving parts. The Dig A Screener has 4 grease nipples on either side. That’s it!
